Special Report: Tony Cancellara

Tony returned to the club this season with a mission, “I want a trophy or a prize on presentation day.”

As a player this was a dream, and SportsBet had him at 450/1, but it seems that the smart will read Canch has chosen the right route as the clubs’ only keeper for both grades. All Talk sat down with the club veteran and the elements in his life that helped turn his game around.

All Talk: Tony what a season this year, one could say you have pulled of some saves.

Canch: Sure it’s a great season, it reminds me of the season where we auctioned off the photo of me scoring a goal for the club, I can’t believe how many people were bidding, it cost me a fortune…

All Talk: Sorry Tony but wasn’t it $50?

Canch: No, $47 acutally, but I still have the photo can you re-publish it on the net for us with this article?

All Talk: Yes mate no problems, now can we get back to the questions?

Canch: Yes let’s do it.

All Talk: So why did you decided to come off the field and play in goals?

Canch: Injuries mostly, I have this corked thigh that i just can’t fix plus the knees are playing up and the magic stretches just don’t do their thing any more. Goals seemed the perfect hideaway.

All Talk: The first few games didn’t look to promising?

Canch: That’s because I had my vision all off, and I needed time to get in focus for the role.

All Talk: Yes but you even walked off at half time and told the coach that “that should do me for today”.

Canch: Guru

All Talk: Yes, Coach Guru

Canch:Well come on does anyone take him seriously? I was was just being honest to my team mates. It’s better you lose a few goals now but wait till I get my handle on to this keeping job and we will all be winners.

All Talk: Tony what do you contribute this great turnaround in your game?

Canch: It’s all about the balls, how you see the ball is how you can read it. I see silver balls.

All Talk: Silver balls?

Canch: Yes, it’s fairly easy to visualise.

All Talk: Tell us more.

Canch: Well you remember Golden Balls Becks?

All Talk: Yes

Canch: Well David Beckham might be known as the Golden Balls, but I use silver balls when I hit the discos and the glam clubs that I frequent. With the silver balls I can see the ball coming from a mile away even if there is a big trunk and bush covering my vision.

All Talk: Really.

Canch: Yes it’s like colour blindness, now I have corrected my vision I can see the ball before it hits me in the face. That’s why I have saved so many goals this season and may I add I have checked all the books in Angus Robertson, Dymocks and even Amazon and there is nothing on this topic. I am writing my own version and will get it published.

All Talk: Amazing stuff Tony keep up the good work for the finals thanks for talking to us.

Canch: Thanks and another thing…
